About The Author: Anne Bissell, a third-generation writer and former technical writer in the computer industry, has a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Performing Arts/Journalism) from the University of Maryland. She has worked for nearly twenty years as a professional writer, and has also earned a certificate in writing from the University of California, San Diego. “When I became suspicious
it was already too late” states Anne Bissell, an actively sought
after speaker, expert, anti-prostitution activist and author of the
popular new book “Memoirs of a Sex Industry Survivor.” Ann
has studied women in the sex industry for over two decades. She accepted
Dr. Phil’s invitation to voice her expert professional opinion
on his show titled “Bad Influences” (aired May 2). Unbeknownst
at the time, Bissell and the Dr. Phil producers were about to be “had”
by porn stars Jocelyn and Crystal Potter a.k.a. “The Virgo Twins.”
The curvy blonde twin sisters posed on The Dr. Phil Show as a couple of regular girls at a juncture. Crystal claimed she wanted to quit her mediocre secretarial job to become a prostitute at The Bunny Ranch and tried convincing her twin sister Jocelyn to join her. Dennis Hof, owner of The Bunny Ranch was a show guest presenting the benefits of working at his brothel, views opposite of Bissell’s. What was not known to the show producers or to Bissell was the twin’s history in pornography and their relationship with Hof. And what a relationship it is. One only has to look among the lengthy porn acting credits to find the connection. The Virgo Twins had a lead role in the adult film "Goin' Down at the Bunny Ranch,” (released June 2003) directed by and staring none other than the notorious porn star Ron Jeremy, who is a frequent visitor to The Bunny Ranch. Additionally, Hof told a reporter for the New York Daily News, "I'm dating them." “I was not aware of their past when I was on the show” Bissell told Globe’s investigative reporter John Blosser. Anne continued: “Viewers were defrauded, but I don’t think the Dr. Phil show knew about it.” A Dr. Phil spokesperson told Globe reporter Blosser: “we go through an extensive interview process with the show guests to try to ensure that this kind of thing does not happen.” Bissell sensed something was awry when she noticed Ron Jeremy in the audience. “He is Mr. Porn. I tried to warn the producers that it smelled like a set-up to me, but they were busy getting ready to air.” What has yet to be discovered are the motivations behind the twins
stooping so low as to defraud Dr. Phil’s staff and audience.
They’ve refused to respond to a request for comment.
